None of the Above choice on ballot in Toronto Centre byelection October 26, 2020

Elections Canada says None of the Above Direct Democracy Party not eligible for registration, application not complete by July 13, 2020, at least 60 days before the byelections were called on September 11, 2020.

NOTA Party leader Greg Vezina confirmed they had submitted the necessary forms with 125 or half of the 250 necessary member/supporter forms, but he noted that due to COVID-19 it was difficult to gather the other half of them. He said they had pretty much reached the necessary level when they were combined with the 100+ signatures their candidate Above Znoneofthe submitted to be officially nominated yesterday, according to Elections Canada.

Ottawa-Vanier & Orleans by-elections

The previous Ottawa-Vanier 2016 provincial by-election candidate, Above Znoneofthe, formerly Sheldon Bergson, has been officially nominated to run again, and the previous 2018 Ontario General Election candidate Keegan Bennett will run in the adjacent Ottawa neighborhood Orleans riding.

Ontario Court says it’s unconstitutional to exclude any candidates from election debates on public property

The ruling Friday, October 11, 2019 at 7:10 in the evening came four hours after the hearing for a two-part injunction application brought by self-represented Mississauga Centre riding Independent candidate Greg Vezina against the City of Mississauga regarding candidate debates and the removal of his campaign signs.

Ottawa-Vanier independent candidate wants to see change in voting system

Officially, Keegan Bennett is independent, but he actually represents the None of the Above Party (NOTA).

The party’s main proposed policy is a transition away from Canada’s conventional representative democracy in favour of more direct democracy. The party is officially registered as an Ontario provincial party, but not as a federal party which is why it cannot run federal candidates under its own name. Keegan Bennett ran in the Ottawa-Vanier riding during last year’s provincial election, and this time he’s officially representing the NOTA party.

Mississauga-Centre None of the Above Party candidate: Greg Vezina

During the 2014 provincial election, Vezina founded and became leader of the NOTA the Party of Ontario and ran as one of the eight founding candidates in the riding of Mississauga-Erindale.

Vezina is running on a platform of direct democracy and the use of ammonia energy. Before going to the polls, Vezina is asking voters to do their own research on the two subjects.

He ran again in the February 2016 Whitby-Oshawa byelection. In the 2018 provincial election, Vezina also ran as a candidate in Mississauga-Streetsville.
